Hovhannes Avagyan, Karen Bisharyan and Nelly Harutyunyan Nominated for Vacant Position of Judge of Judicial Composition in Crime Investigation of Anti-Corruption Chamber of Court of Cassation

The parliament debated t he issue of the election of a candidate nominated for the vacant position of a judge of the judicial composition in the crime investigation of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation at the NA extraordinary session convened on June 2 9 .

The Supreme Judicial Council nominated the candidates Hovhannes Avagyan, Karen Bisharyan and Nelly Harutyunyan for that position.

Davit Khachaturyan, a member of the Supreme Judicial Council, presented biographies and career path of the candidates.

The candidate Hovhannes Avagyan referred to the future activities of the Anti-Corruption Chamber. Hovhannes Avagyan noted that he clearly realizes the importance of resolute and uncompromising fight against corruption.

The candidate stated that he had never got involved in politics and had not been a member of any party. “Carrying out the mission of a judge in 2015, when making all judicial acts, I was guided exclusively by the RA Constitution, laws and my conscience.

The next candidate, Karen Bisharyan spoke about the ideological basis for the fair administration of justice, which should guide a judge of any instance of the RA justice system. According to the candidate, important conditions of his mission in the field of criminal justice, including the judge of the Court of Cassation, are to be guided exclusively by the interest of law, as well as to ensure a fair balance of public and private interests.

The candidate Nelly Harutyunyan highlighted the fight against corruption, referring to the anti-corruption policy and legislation implemented in the republic. “The judicial system should be fully independent in order to become a balancing force with other forces,” she underlined.

The candidate also mentioned that she is ready to serve the homeland in this difficult period.
